Graceland Rehabilitation and Nursing is looking for dedicated and compassionate Respiratory Therapists to join the team!

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The primary purpose of your position is to assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, including the supervision of respiratory therapy technicians. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures, maintain patient records, and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE RESPIRATORY THERAPIST:

  • Must have a high level of knowledge of respiratory therapy.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • One (1) year of experience in performing professional respiratory duties preferred.
  • Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct our Facility’s respiratory therapy, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern nursing care facilities.
  • Meet with administration, medical and nursing staff, as well as other related departments in planning therapy services.
  • Represent the Facility at and participate in meetings, as directed.
  • Maintain respiratory therapy standards of practice.
  • Assist in standardizing the methods in which respiratory therapy will be accomplished.
  • Assist in developing, implementing and coordinating policies and procedures, resident care plans, respiratory therapy procedure manuals, job descriptions, etc.
  • Review respiratory therapy policies, procedures, manuals, job descriptions, etc., at least annually, and participate in making recommended changes.
  • Interpret respiratory therapy policies and procedures to personnel, residents, family members, etc., as necessary.
  • Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of resident care plans, resident assessments, etc., as necessary.
  • Maintain treatment records, resident files, and progress notes, as required.
  • Ensure business office receives charges for respiratory therapy rendered to residents and that all treatments are coded accurately for billing in accordance with current standards.
  • Make written and oral reports or recommendations to the Administrator concerning the operation of the respiratory therapy department.
  • Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting to the Administrator, as required.
