Overview Job Summary: Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision and values. Administer quality respiratory therapy care and life support to patients with deficiencies and/or abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system, under the supervision of an ASBRT Licensed Therapist and physician and by prescription. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions 1. Performs respiratory patient assessments, makes appropriate recommendations and initiates recommended mode of therapy per physician orders. Must be familiar with ventilator equipment, respiratory medication delivery devices as well as be knowledgable on performing chest physical therapy. 2. Draws and analyzes arterial blood specimens. Assist in the interpretation of ABG's as needed. 3. Responds to cardiopulmonary emergencies and assist with intervention as appropriate and within scope of practice. 4. Performs EKG's and other diagnostic or therapeutic tests as assigned. 5. Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team concerning interventions, discharge needs and patient education. 6. Completes other duties or task as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required: Education: Graduate of an accredited program. NBRC Registry. ASBRT License. BLS required, ACLS preferred. Experience: 1-2 years experience preferred.
