OVERVIEW:

We are hiring for Canada’s first truly mobile Level 3 Pulmonary Function Test lab!
To roll out this new initiative, we are looking for a motivated RRT, eager to work with and travel to rural and Indigenous communities across Alberta. The ideal candidate is flexible, self-sufficient, passionate about delivering quality care, and prepared for the dynamic nature of the position.
This role will require overnight stays and the potential for extended travel, with some assignments being day trips. Paid out-of-town allowances will be provided on top of the wage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Registered with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists.
  • Ability to perform tasks without direct supervision.
  • Current BLS/CPR Certification.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 55 lbs unassisted.

Requirements :

  • Current Respiratory Therapy registration in good standing with CARTA (College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta) and CSRT (Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists).
  • Previous experience as a Respiratory Therapist performing Level 3 Pulmonary Function Test (FVC, SVC, Body Plethysmography, DLCO, and Bronchodilator Administration).
  • CPR in good standing.
  • Excellent multitasking and communication skills.
  • Ability to be flexible to respond to an ever-changing environment.
  • Class 5 Driver’s license with a clean abstract.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Respiratory Therapist: 1 year Level 3 (preferred)
  • Driving: 1 year

Responsibilities
  • The Respiratory Therapist performs high-quality diagnostic PFT and provides accurate information to assist the physician with the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Participate in driver training courses and drive MB Sprinter Van to sites.
  • Help develop processes for efficiency of the mobile clinic.
  • Use proper patient preparation, equipment settings, ensure patient comfort and safety, prevent compromised data acquisition, and to ensure appropriate therapeutic response.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition and ensure the work areas are properly supplied, equipped, and operational before, during, and after each shift.
  • Properly maintain equipment for optimal use.
  • Reduce patient anxiety by effectively explaining procedures, answering questions, and aiding the patient—every patient encounter is an opportunity to educate.
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team and other support staff to provide optimal patient care.
  • Provide clinical/technical evaluations and education to our respiratory patients.
  • Establish and maintain contact with physicians and healthcare professionals regarding client status.
  • Perform Pulmonary Function tests in accordance with accreditation and CPSA standards.
