Overview Under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Services Medical Director and Department Director, the Respiratory Therapist performs direct patient care to patients in all aspects of respiratory care according to the physician�s orders/approved protocols, with consideration given to the age of the patient. The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities in the cardiopulmonary system. The clinical work includes: � Setting up and managing mechanical ventilation. � Emergency care. � Assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and intubations. � Monitoring physiological responses to therapy. � Educating patients and their families about their conditions. � Teaching appropriate disease management techniques. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Graduate of a respiratory program such that the individual is eligible to take the CRTT board exam or has achieved previous work experience making candidate eligible to sit for Certification Exam as per either State of Florida or NBRC rules. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
