Description
The Per Diem Registered, New York State Licensed Respiratory Therapist provides acute and critical respiratory care to all age groups, utilizing sound clinical and technological knowledge. The respiratory care includes acquisition and interpretation of physiological parameters and application of respiratory technology toward the resolution of respiratory diseases.  The Respiratory Therapists are part of “code blue” and “rapid response” teams.  The practice also involves teaching of patient and family members, students and other health care providers. Qualifications * Bachelor’s Degree Respiratory Care Science (B.S.R.T.) * OR * An Associate Degree in Respiratory Science (A.A.S.), plus an Associate or higher degree in any science major * OR * Associate Degree in Respiratory Science (A.A.S.), plus four (4) years hospital related experience (Nursing Home experience does not apply/count). * Minimum of two (2) years of experience in hospital setting - Preferred * Critical care experience with all age group – adult, pediatric, and neonatal – Preferred * Current New York State Licensed Respiratory Therapist * Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T) credential from The National Board for Respiratory Care * New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness – G71 Supervision of Piped Non Flammable Medical Gas – For New Hire Starting December 1, 2018 * Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) * Knowledge of Translaryngeal intubation * Knowledge of arterial puncture * Computer skills * Ability to pass/satisfy department provided verbal or written examination in respiratory physiology, clinical practices and equipment
