Responsibilities The primary purpose of a Respiratory Therapist Registered (RTR) position is to provide direct patient care. Upon the order of the physician, administers pulmonary therapeutic, diagnostic procedures and sets up, operates, monitors and manages various types of respiratory equipment to be utilized in the treatment, management, control and care of patients of all ages with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardio respiratory system. Works primarily in the Intensive Care unit (ICU), collaborates with nurses and physician in the implementation of individualized care plans. Qualifications Must possess the ability, education and training required to meet the needs of patients of all ages based on age and developmental status. Successful completion of study from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). Must possess the Registry (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Must have a valid license issued by the New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care. Current BLS certificate is required and successful completion of all mandatory competencies and training as required by the Joint Commission, DOH and other regulatory agencies. Must possess good communications skills. Continuing Education requirements: Must complete 30 Continuing Education Credits (CE) for renewal of biennial license. State Board of Respiratory Care Subchapter 13:44F-10.1.
