A member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, St. Francis is consistently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a national leader for Cardiology & Heart Surgery, as well as for Gastroenterology & GI Surgery Job Details Responsibilities: • Ability to determine appropriateness of therapy and contacts physician to clarify or modify order when necessary • Able to provide verbal and written educational materials to patients when appropriate • Follows policy for documentation of critical values in the patient's medical record • Assists with patient care decision making by communicating with physicians, nurses and other health care team members and by making appropriate decisions as needed in emergency situations. • Provides airway care including the maintenance of a patent airway through intubation, tracheostomy care, clearance of airway obstructions and reversal of bronchial narrowing due to bronchospasms and inflammation of the airways. Extubates patients when appropriate and provides appropriate airway care following extubation • Provides care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations in the hospital intensive care, non-critical care areas and the emergency room. • Applies and maintains invasive and non-invasive ventilation systems to critically ill patients of all age groups • Draws blood samples and analyzes and interprets the results of blood tests. • Has ability to assemble and troubleshoot Respiratory Therapy equipment Qualifications: • Minimum Associates Degree and graduate of an AMA approved program in Respiratory or Cardio Respiratory Therapy; • Current completions of BLS and ACLS programs. • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). • Current NYS RT License and active membership in the NBRC. Salary Range USD $53.45 - USD $61.44 /Hr. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits. The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing comprehensive airway care, including intubation, tracheostomy care, and managing both invasive and non-invasive ventilation systems for critically ill patients across all age groups. This role also involves drawing and analyzing blood samples, communicating with the healthcare team, and determining the appropriateness of prescribed respiratory therapies.
