Description
Overview Responsible for the administration of mechanical ventilation, pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitative, or diagnostic regime prescribed by a physician; the transcription and implementation of the written or verbal orders of a physician pertaining to the practice of respiratory care; proper assessment, observation and monitoring of signs and symptoms, general behavior, and general physical response to respiratory care treatments and diagnostic testing; recommend and implement appropriate respiratory care procedures and protocols based on observed abnormalities; implement changes in treatment pursuant to the written or verbal orders of a physician. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED; Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program with a Diploma or AAS Degree in Respiratory Therapy Experience: Previous hospital experience preferred Licenses/Certificates: Current Alabama Respiratory Therapy License issued by the Alabama State Board for Respiratory Care, and Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care, if credentialed after 2005. Current BLS and ACLS certification (may obtain BLS and ACLS within the first 7 days after hospital orentation); PALS and NRP will be required within 90 days of hospital wide orentation if not already current.
Responsibilities
Responsible for administering mechanical ventilation, pharmacological, and therapeutic agents to implement respiratory care regimes prescribed by physicians. This includes monitoring patient responses, implementing protocols based on abnormalities, and transcribing physician orders.
