Description
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for operating a variety of electromechanical respiration equipment to obtain data relative to functioning of patients' respiratory processes for use by physicians in diagnosing and treating pulmonary disorders. Job Relationships Reports to the Operations Manager Principal Responsibilities Perform patient evaluation by assessing skin coloring, respiratory rates and other aspects of routine cardiopulmonary assessment. Administer respiratory treatments, checks treatments, response, and progress. Provide input and direction for overall respiratory care plan. Recognize medical problems and report them to physician. Check patient charts to follow physicians' notes concerning patient progress and review for new orders. Maintain respiratory equipment. Order and stock all drugs and supplies. Assist in organizing the nursing station in order that staff functions efficiently. Organize all written medical information for physician to review and place in the record in correct order. Proof read appropriate dictation. Schedule appointments effectively and efficiently according to patient needs. Open mail and distribute to appropriate person, files miscellaneous office information, organize all written communication. Interview patient to determine chief complaint and document information in medical record. Take vital signs and document results. Order diagnostic tests, exams and procedures according to physician's order. Give patients instructions for home care, medications, etc. under physician direction. Call in prescriptions to pharmacy, provide patient instructions and documents. Perform other job duties as assigned. Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures. Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy. Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy. Education/Experience Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Licenses/Certificates RRT IL State licensure. CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Documented instruction and observation of injection techniques from Springfield Clinic's QA Department. Working Environment Works in medical office setting. Direct patient contact involved. Minimal lifting requirements. Sitting 50%, Standing 50% of time. PHI/Privacy Level HIPAA2
