We are looking for RESPIRATORY THERAPISTS with valid NY state respiratory care license to join our team. This opportunity is located at Sunshine Children’s Home, which is a 122-bed brand new state of the art licensed nursing facility that specializes in the care and treatment of medically complex children who require post-acute care. Current openings are for full time and part time day shift and night shifts (6pm/am - 6:30am/pm).

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Meet patient’s goals and needs, provide quality care by determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription.
  • Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and supports life by administering bronchodilators as needed; managing mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
  • Administer bronchopulmonary therapy treatments; assists with breathing exercises; monitors physiological responses to therapy.
  • Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient’s progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.
  • Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers.
  • Documents patient care in electronic medical record.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Awareness on Infection Control, Health Promotion and Maintenance
  • Other tasks or assignment as directed by the RT Supervisor or Manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • RRT, RCP, CRTT or eligible and meeting the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) requirements.
  • Valid state(s) Respiratory Care license
  • Able to follow established facility procedures as it relates to RT.
  • Able to lift objects (25-30lbs) from a squatting to standing position.
  • Must possess good people skills, be able to follow‑up and communicate well with others.
  • Must be detail oriented, well organized, be able to work independently and as a team member
