Respiratory Therapist
Location: North Cape May, NJ 08204
Duration: Permanent position
Shift Timing: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Guaranteed hours: 40 / 5 days a week (Monday - Friday with every other weekend)

POSITION SUMMARY

As the Respiratory Therapist, you evaluate and treat patients in the most functional environment—their home—assessing respiratory needs, developing care plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions to improve breathing and overall pulmonary health. You identify the need for, and make referrals to, other disciplines to address comprehensive patient needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a valid Respiratory Therapy license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility;
  • They must have a Master’s degree in Respiratory Therapy; or
  • They must have a Master’s degree in a Respiratory Therapy related field in addition to a Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy; or
  • They must have a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy plus 5 years of progressively responsible RT experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to and from the patients’ residence.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate patients’ respiratory conditions by reviewing medical histories, conducting physical examinations, and interpreting diagnostic tests (e.g., arterial blood gases, pulmonary function tests).
  • Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, chest physiotherapy, and mechanical ventilation support.
  • Operate and maintain respiratory equipment such as ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP machines, and oxygen delivery systems, ensuring proper function and safety.
  • Monitor patient responses to respiratory treatments, adjusting therapy as needed and reporting significant changes to the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and families on managing respiratory conditions, including inhaler use, breathing exercises, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Respond to emergency situations, providing advanced airway management and life support measures.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatments, and patient progress in medical records.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, safety regulations, and professional standards.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care meetings to support optimal patient outcomes.
