Qualifications Bachelors degree required.Valid NBRC RRT certification. Specialty certification such as RRT-ACCS and/or RRT-NPS, preferred.New Mexico Respiratory Care Practitioners License current and valid.2-3 years of relevant clinical experience.Must hold a current BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications.Basic computer skills required.Basic understanding of the rules and regulations of the specific setting.Must have fundamental and advanced knowledge of respiratory equipment and therapeutic modalities, interventions, outcomes, and side effects.Analytical ability with attention to detail. Education:Essential:Bachelor Degree Credentials:Essential:Respiratory Care Practcnr-NMReg Resp Therapist (NBRC) Current BLS required Responsibilities Plan, implement, provide, and evaluate the orientation program for new hires.Coordinates and provides department orientation for new hires.Provide professional and educational opportunities for the staff through in-services and other educational opportunities based on assessed learning needs.Collaborate and coordinate with inter-departmental groups regarding staff/patient education.Assist in quality improvement programs in adherence to regulatory and organizational requirements. (Environmental Surveillance, High-level disinfection, and annual staff education).Assist in overseeing required certification, Resp fit, clinical license renewals.Assist in research of clinical questions related to current practice, delegate research or projects as appropriate.Assist in creating, reviewing, and updating department procedures and policies.Create and implement departmental annual training, competencies, and education. Contact person/liaison for companies/facilities desiring to do a Respiratory relevant in-service.Ensures adherence to hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines. Clinician Responsibilities:Provide clinical respiratory care. Patient care assignments may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.Assess, evaluate, and recommend interventions to obtain specific patient outcomes.Assemble, operate, and troubleshoot various types of respiratory equipment used in diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease, disability, impairment and illness.Promotes patient/caregiver self-determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of independence.Coordinates and communicates with various disciplines or services involved in patient care.Performs department specific functions as detailed within the summary of the department specific duties.Other duties as assigned.
