THE POSITION: This is a permanent, part-time position located in northwest Edmonton near the Telus World of Science (Woodcroft neighborhood). This position is to be filled immediately and requires an energetic staff to support a child participant for every second Wednesday from 5-8PM. Must have a vehicle and experience with complex behaviors and de-escalation strategies. As a Community Specialists II (CS II) you would be an ally and ambassador, you will work front-line and are pivotal to the creation of a safe, caring and community-enriched life for the individuals/families who hire us. Thoughtful program planning and implementation supports participants to connect with their communities - establishing real relationships and creating meaningful days and lives. Provide specialized direct care and purposeful support in an engaging, fun, and safe environment. Key Functions 1. Provide specialized direct care and purposeful support in an engaging, fun, and safe environment 2. Facilitate inclusion for individuals with complex and/or specialized situations 3. Ensure programs and services are engaging and meaningful and promotes growth, success, and belonging, while creating meaningful days for participants 4. Assist, support, and encourage individuals to advocate on their own behalf and achieve their personal goals through various development activities 5. Maintain timely, accurate and professional documents in accordance with AdaptAbilities policies and procedures 6. Understand and comply with all emergency processes and risk management 7. Perform other job-related activities as required QUALIFICATIONS 1. Minimum education requirement of a High School Diploma and a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience; or graduation from an appropriate post-secondary program with a Certificate or Diploma. Programs include Disability Studies, Human Services, Social Work, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Psychology, Sociology, or Education. 2. Hands-on experience working with individuals with complex behaviors which limit their inclusion in community and/or programs 3. Alignment with AdaptAbilities core purpose and core values 4. Clean class 5 driver’s license and a vehicle is required 5. Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check are required upon hire 6.
