POSITION & TEAM OVERVIEW

FinDev Canada is seeking an experienced Lead Investment Officer in the Sustainable Infrastructure team, who aspires to part of a dynamic team responsible for originating, structuring, and managing tailored financial solutions for private sector companies in Sustainable Infrastructure sectors, including Energy, Transport, Water and Digital Infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-oriented and client-focused team player, with a deep understanding of public-private partnerships and project finance structures to contribute to development through the private sector across emerging markets and developing economies.

Responsibilities
  • Business Development: Lead, identify, create, and develop new business opportunities with both current and potential clients and partners.
  • Transaction Management: Conduct all elements of transaction delivery from origination, due diligence, deal structuring to negotiation and closing of documentation.
  • Internal Communication: Communicate effectively with management and other internal stakeholders (incl. Risk Management, Impact, Legal, and other committees) throughout the investment process.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, banking, and DFI/multilateral partners to develop high quality, specific business opportunities.
  • Risk Assessment: Assess and internally present transaction risks and mitigants and reflect decision outcomes in subsequent structuring negotiations.
  • Project Leadership: May be required to lead multi-functional projects.
  • Customer Strategy: Guide customer engagement and negotiation strategy
  • Portfolio Management: Actively manage a portfolio of customers / transactions; maintain effective relationships with clients and partners; monitor risks; recommend options for the mitigation of risks and for the optimal support to customers.
  • Industry Engagement: Develop a network in the DFI space and participate in industry events on behalf of FinDev Canada.
  • Process Improvement: Be a lead contributor to the continuous improvement of our investment process, management and reporting strategies, tools, and practices ensuring they are in line with leading approaches and the latest evidence in the field.
  • Mentorship: Coach & mentor more junior employees in the technical aspects of transaction analysis, deal management and credit process.
