SOUTH NELSON KIDZ KLUB

South Nelson Kidz Klub, a licensed before and after school child care program, is seeking enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our after school team as Responsible Adults. In this role, you will facilitate engaging activities that promote physical activity, social-emotional development, and overall wellness while providing quality care and support for elementary school–aged children in our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage children in fun, active, and inclusive activities.
  • Support positive social and emotional development.
  • Provide attentive, safe, and caring supervision.
  • Collaborate effectively with other staff members.
  • Communicate professionally with families, staff, and children.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Enthusiasm for working with children in a busy environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Physical ability to actively engage with children (standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, or using sports/play equipment).

Training & Education (Preferred)

  • First Aid and CPR certification (training can be provided).
  • Responsible Adult designation (online courses available).
  • Candidates may also qualify with training or coursework (minimum 20 hours) in child development, guidance, health & safety, or nutrition, plus relevant work experience (e.g., Responsible Adult, ECE, ECEA, CYC, CCSW).
  • We provide ongoing professional development throughout the year.

Requirements

  • At least 19 years of age.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (Ministry of Justice – vulnerable sector).
  • Two relevant work references.

Position Details

  • Schedule: 12.5–15 hours per week, Monday–Friday during the school year.
  • Additional Hours: Extended shifts available during school breaks and holidays.
  • Wage: $22/hour.
  • Benefits: Up to two childcare spaces for school-aged children.
  • ECE Wage Enhancement: Candidates with current Early Childhood Educator certification are eligible for an additional $4–$8 per hour under the provincial ECE wage enhancement program.
