Job Title: Responsible Individual – Children’s Home
Location: North West London (Harrow and surrounding areas)
Employment Type: Full-time (early/late shift rota, with ad-hoc weekends)
Start Date: Be able to start within 1 month
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications).
As this is a new opening, we are open to considering candidates at different levels of experience. We welcome applications from individuals with strong potential as well as those with proven leadership in children’s residential care.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in a role within a children’s residential care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, Ofsted standards, and safeguarding practices.
  • Qualifications in a relevant field (e.g., Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent preferred).
  • Additional childcare, social care, or education-related qualifications are desirable.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, proactive decision-making, and confidence in leading teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be flexible to work early and late shifts on a rota basis, with ad-hoc weekend availability.
  • Full enhanced DBS check (to be carried out prior to employment).

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

As the Responsible Individual, you will be accountable for ensuring that the children’s home operates to the highest standards of care and compliance. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will be directly involved in supporting children’s day-to-day care, wellbeing, and educational development. This role requires someone with initiative, confidence, and a proactive approach who can drive quality, safeguard children, and support both staff and young people to thrive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the home complies with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards.
  • Provide hands-on care and support to children, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
  • Encourage and support children’s educational development, including homework support, liaising with schools, and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Lead and support the staff team to deliver high-quality care and safeguarding practices.
  • Work closely with the Registered Manager to monitor, review, and improve care standards.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring policies, procedures, and safeguarding measures are consistently implemented.
  • Build positive working relationships with local authorities, social workers, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Support recruitment, training, and supervision of staff to ensure professional development.
  • Contribute to the strategic growth and development of the organisation.
