QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or Teaching Certificate from out of state appropriate for position
  • Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (5) years teaching experience.
  • Elementary and Secondary teaching experience preferred
  • Instructional coaching experience preferred.
  • MANDT Certification and any other district approved de-escalation training

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Exceptional knowledge in the use of technology to report changes in student outcomes and research- based strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and evaluate strategies for improving learner engagement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with diverse populations
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills

Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Responsible for district-wide responsive support services for at-risk students to increase their ability to effectively engage and accomplish their educational goals

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsive Teacher Supports:

  • To provide effective support, feedback, and intensive group and individual professional learning to coach staff on how to improve at-risk student achievement.
  • Ability to analyze data and use it to inform staff across the system on how teacher in the instructional support of at-risk students with emotional regulation problems.
  • To implement teacher and support staff coaching models to improve classroom practice and at-risk student learning
  • Use data and assessment information to provide targeted feedback to teachers who require additional support with classroom management by discussing possible research-validated interventions that will assist the teacher in addressing at-risk student needs.
  • Model behavioral strategies and encourage teachers by using a wide variety of coaching methods including gradual release, co-planning, modeling, side-by-side coaching, and video reflection.
  • Travels to school sites as required for the purpose of performing district-wide services

At-Risk Student Intervention:

  • Use of expert knowledge of function-based intervention planning for developing behavior change strategies for at-risk students that focus on reducing problem behavior and increasing more appropriate behavior
  • Use of expert knowledge and support of techniques needed to successfully address the various functions of behavior with function –based interventions, and informal behavior plans
  • Use of expert knowledge and support in research-based implementation of at-risk student behavioral strategies
  • Direct supervision of at-risk students to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment whin which all students can thrive.
  • Assist with de-escalating student behaviors and reintegrating students back into the classroom
  • Facilitation of professional development to increase knowledge and skills regarding positive student behavior support for all students, at-risk students and students who represent sub-group populations.

System-wide Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with core academic and special services personnel to improve the quality of child outcomes by planning and developing sound behavioral strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Provide regular professional development to teachers through observation feedback, behavior- management feedback, coaching meetings, and professional development workshops
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues and campus staff members that support the vision and mission of the Responsive Services Team in SBISD.
  • Support multiple campuses district-wide with campus culture and climate adjustments to ensure a safe and productive learning environment for all
  • Maintain data-based documentation for continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
  • Use of assessment tools such as: frequency charting, duration charting, time sampling, and interval observations

Professional Growth and Development:

  • Pursue in-service or professional growth opportunities offering potential for expanding knowledge in at-risk student intervention and support, and teacher classroom ecosystem empowerment coaching
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills; remain current and comply with state, federal, school and district regulations and policies
  • Attend and participate in meetings relevant to this position.
