OVERVIEW

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier to join our busy restaurant team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of wines, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to enhance the dining experience through expert wine pairings and recommendations. As a Sommelier, you will play a critical role in, educating staff and guests about wine selections, and ensuring that our wine service meets the highest standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • While having paper credentials is advantageous, La Bicyclette is willing to train the right person, person’s.
  • Previous restaurant experience with a focus on humility is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of wines, including varietals, regions, and tasting notes.
  • Experience with Toast systems is advantageous.
  • Proven sales skills with an emphasis on upselling and enhancing guest experiences.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly demeanor.
  • Culinary experience or food service background is a plus.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and practices related to food handling.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional hospitality to guests and other colleagues.
  • Conduct tastings and training sessions for staff to enhance their knowledge of wines and upselling techniques.
  • Oversee wine storage, handling, and inventory management to maintain quality and compliance with food safety standards.
  • Assist in all event services by providing expert wine recommendations for large groups.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wine cellar and service areas including, wine glasses, decanters and other Sommelier’s tools of the trade.
