Restaurant Supervisor – Japanese Cuisine

Coco Sushi – Gordonvale, QLD

Full-Time | 38 hours per week

Salary: $79,499 per annum + superannuation

About the Role

Coco Sushi is a Japanese takeaway restaurant located in Gordonvale, approximately 30 minutes south of Cairns.

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Restaurant Supervisor to join our team on a full-time basis.

The successful applicant will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, coordinating staff and workflow, maintaining high standards of customer service and food quality, and supporting the owners in the efficient operation of the business.

As we operate a Japanese food business and communication occurs in both English and Japanese, this position requires strong communication skills in both languages, together with a good understanding of Japanese cuisine and food culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the restaurant
  • Supervise, support and provide guidance to restaurant and kitchen staff
  • Coordinate staff duties and daily workflow
  • Assist with staff rostering and training
  • Monitor staff performance and ensure appropriate service standards are maintained
  • Maintain high standards of customer service
  • Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally
  • Monitor food quality, presentation and consistency
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory control
  • Communicate with suppliers as required
  • Assist with controlling stock usage and wastage
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene and workplace procedures are followed
  • Assist with POS, cash-handling and daily operational procedures
  • Identify operational issues and assist with implementing improvements
  • Support the owners with the efficient day-to-day operation of the restaurant

Essential Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will have:

  • Previous experience in restaurant, hospitality or food-service operations
  • Relevant supervisory experience in a restaurant or similar hospitality environment
  • Strong staff supervision and team coordination skills
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Experience coordinating staff and workflow in a busy food-service environment
  • Good knowledge of stock control and ordering
  • Strong customer-service and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for duties within the role
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy and fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Japanese
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Japanese cuisine, ingredients and food culture
