JOB SUMMARY

A Restorative Dental Technician is responsible for designing, fabricating, and refining dental restorations and prostheses. This role involves the interpretation of dental prescriptions and impressions to create precise, high-quality designs using both digital (CAD/CAM) and traditional methods. The Technician ensures that all restorations meet clinical requirements and quality standards, working collaboratively with dentists and production staff.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPIRIENCE:

  • Proficiency in dental design software (e.g., 3Shape, exocad, or equivalent) and familiarity with digital imaging techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of dental anatomy, materials, and restoration procedures.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret dental prescriptions, lab slips, and technical drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality, precise work.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to manage digital files effectively.
  • Advanced understanding of dental terminology and restorative design principles.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

NONESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in dental laboratory design or a related field.
  • Familiarity with advanced dental CAD/CAM systems and emerging design technologies.
  • Background in dental prosthetics manufacturing is an asset.

Responsibilities

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Maintain and calibrate digital design equipment and workstations to ensure operational excellence.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines in all tasks.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development on emerging design technologies and dental materials.
  • Assist with inventory management by monitoring and reporting on critical supplies and materials.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the President and/or Manager.
