About Us The Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement store offering new and gently used appliances, home goods, building materials, hardware, flooring, and more—all at discounted prices. Every purchase directly supports our mission to build safe, affordable housing throughout the Greater Des Moines community. Position Overview As a ReStore Associate, you’ll play a key role in daily store operations while serving customers, supporting donors, and helping create an excellent shopping experience. Each day brings variety—from processing donations to assisting customers to merchandising sales floor displays. This is a great role for someone who enjoys working with people, staying active throughout the day, and contributing to a mission-driven team. Key Responsibilities Provide friendly, high-quality customer service to all shoppers, donors, and volunteers Answer questions about store items, pricing, and donation processes Maintain a clean, safe, and organized store and warehouse environment Help load and unload donations and customer purchases (lifting up to 80 lbs.) Operate the cash register and complete transactions accurately Evaluate incoming donations for condition and resale suitability Price and merchandise products to maximize sales and store appearance Guard against theft and promote a safe environment Move inventory from warehouse to sales floor Guide and support volunteers as assigned Requirements What We’re Looking For Strong customer service skills and a friendly, positive attitude Basic knowledge of tools, home repair, remodeling, or construction Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
