The Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity (GMHFH) ReStore is seeking a Cashier Associate to support its mission of helping local families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. Summary: Habitat ReStore Cashiers provide excellent customer service and ensures customers and donors have a safe, positive, and rewarding experience. They assist in pricing, merchandising, and maintaining the sales floor; cashiering, moving, and loading donations; and other duties as assigned. Department: ReStore, in-person FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt Schedule: According to store needs Reports To: Store Manager Supervises: None Requirements Main Responsibilities: Engage customers in a helpful and respectful manner with a positive attitude Process customer transactions through the point-of-sale system (includes discounts, coupons, returns, tax exemptions, etc.) Guarantee integrity and accurate cash handling Ensure that the movement of merchandise is done in a safe and effective manner Keep all areas, in and around the ReStore, clear and free of safety hazards Perform additional duties as required, including stocking, cart retrieval, and price changes. Secondary Responsibilities: Help customers carry purchases to their vehicles. Sort clothing donations and prepare them for the sales floor. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Specifications: Desired Education and Experience: Previous experience working in a retail environment. High school diploma preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Previous cashier/cash handling experience or the ability to learn Good computer and math skills Self-motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic Enjoy working with people of diverse backgrounds Must be able to pass a criminal background check Friendly and helpful attitude Must be able to: Stand for long periods behind a register, traverse stairs, and navigate a busy sales floor. Lift, pick up, carry, place down, and bring upstairs at least 25lbs. Squat to pick up items from the floor and perform repetitive data entry on register and pricing motions.
