The Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity (GMHFH) ReStore is seeking a full-time Donation Supervisor to support its mission of helping local families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. Our Habitat ReStores in Milton, Swanton, and Williston play a vital role in advancing Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build affordable housing. By accepting donations of new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials, clothing, electronics, and home goods and selling items at discounted prices, our ReStores promote sustainability while increasing access to affordable resources for the community. Our dedicated teams of staff and volunteers work hard to maintain a constant flow of goods and offer a wide range of items for our retail visits. The proceeds of ReStore sales are then used to help fund the construction of permanently affordable housing for families and individuals across northwestern Vermont. Department: ReStores, In-Person FLSA Status: Full Time Hourly, Non-Exempt Schedule: Varies Reports To: ReStore Manager Supervises: ReStore Associates Summary: The Donation Supervisor manages the donated items department. This includes supervising associates throughout the day. The duties of this position include supervising & assisting in Donation Drop offs, maintaining the donation line, and making sure they are available for questions on specific Donations. While not addressing the Donation line they are responsible for managing the pricing of donated items. Primary Responsibilities: Coordinate with Store Leaders to support them in filling areas of need for new donations, such as increasing the amount of household goods or furniture taken from pick-ups. Supervise the donations department, providing feedback to the dispatcher and truck drivers, addressing any concerns, answering any questions, and acting as a point of contact for the rest of the organization to reach the donations department. Check in often with the Procurement Manager to communicate any needs in the donation department ex. Furniture. Lead the completion of the daily checklist for opening and closing the store. Complete opening and closing procedures for the store, including reconciling the cash drawer. Proactively maintain and further develop existing donor relationships. Assist the Marketing Manager with ideas for outreach materials based on knowledge of the donation area. Unload donated items from Donor’s vehicles as they are in the Donation Lane. Approve or deny donations based on if they are in good, sellable condition and communicate donation policy to donors and staff. Promote a cooperative and mutually beneficial relationship between procurement, operations, and all ReStore support teams with the goal of creating a win-win partnership between all stakeholders. Train new and existing staff on Donation Lane tasks/responsibilities. Supervise the day to make sure Donation Lane/Pricing Station is running smoothly. Train new and existing staff on What we Take Vs. What We can’t take guidelines. Secondary Responsibilities: Help to schedule donation pick-ups when needed, communicating with potential donors through phone and email. Process customer transactions through the point-of-sale system (includes discounts, coupons, returns, tax exemptions, etc.) Help customers carry purchases to their vehicles. Sort clothing donations and prepare them to be moved to the sales floor. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Desired Education and Experience: 2+ years in customer service, dispatching, or a customer-facing role. High school diploma. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Communication skills, including good judgment, the ability to collaborate with diverse populations and personalities, and good customer service. Can work independently and as part of a team. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Strong organizational skills to assist with logistics and scheduling. Strong reading and writing comprehension to communicate effectively with donors and best represent the organization. Compensation & Benefits: The pay range for this position is $17/hr.
