RESTORATIVE – WOUND NURSE JOB TITLE: Restorative – Wound Nurse DEPARTMENT: Jones County Rest Home FULL TIME/PRN: Full Time JOB SUMMARY Coordinates, supervises, and manages the Restorative Nursing and Wound Programs. Ensures restorative and wound care services meet physician orders, facility requirements, and regulatory standards. Provides oversight to ensure restorative, wound, and preventive skin care interventions are implemented appropriately and consistently. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Current unrestricted RN license in Mississippi. • Wound care certification or ability to obtain within 1 year. • Restorative nursing training completed within 90 days of hire if not already trained. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Restorative nursing, MDS, or wound care experience. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Represent the organization professionally. • Promote safety, infection control, and quality improvement. • Maintain competency and compliance with regulatory standards. • Support staffing needs by performing Staff Nurse duties when required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide ongoing staff education, consultation, and oversight. • Conduct daily rounds and direct restorative care staff. • Perform comprehensive assessments; develop restorative care plans. • Monitor restorative documentation and provide corrective feedback. • Assess, stage, and manage pressure injuries and complex wounds. • Ensure wound and restorative care documentation meets MDS standards. • Communicate resident needs and changes to staff, physicians, and families. • Develop and implement skin integrity and pressure ulcer prevention plans. • Perform root cause analysis of wounds and update care plans accordingly. • Supervise staff to ensure proper wound prevention and infection control. • Educate RNs, LPNs, and aides on wound identification and prevention. • Complete competency checks and audits. • Maintain current CMS and MDS guideline knowledge. • Participate in QAPI monitoring, data collection, and reporting. • Assist with admissions, discharges, and resident care as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods. • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling. • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs independently; >50 lbs with assistance/devices. • Assist with patient positioning and transfers using proper body mechanics. • Manual dexterity for wound care procedures and computer documentation.
