Retail Grocery Store Cashier

The Opportunity

Food World Plus is hiring an experienced Retail Grocery Store Cashier. Previous cashier experience in a grocery store or supermarket is mandatory. The ideal candidate is reliable, customer-focused, accurate, and comfortable working in a busy retail grocery environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, scan items, process payments accurately at checkout.
• Maintain accurate cash handling, balance register at shift end.
• Meet daily/shift sales targets and contribute to team performance metrics.
• Provide friendly service, answer questions, and upsell relevant items when appropriate.
• Operate POS system, issue receipts, refunds, and exchanges per policy.
• Record and report any discrepancies, damaged goods, or safety hazards promptly.
• Pursue ongoing learning on products, promotions, and customer service best practices.
• Uphold store policies on discounts, loyalty programs, and promotions.
• Collaborate with team to ensure smooth store operations during peak hours.
• Assist customers with locating products and provide store navigation guidance.
• Maintain clean and organized checkout area; stock impulse items as directed.

Experience/Qualifications

• Excellent cash handling accuracy and ability to balance till at shift end.
• Proficient POS operation including scanning, receipts, refunds, and exchanges.
• Meet daily/shift sales targets and contribute to team metrics.
• Friendly customer service with upselling when appropriate.
• Observe store policies on discounts, loyalty programs, and promotions.
• Accurate record-keeping for discrepancies, damaged goods, and hazards.
• Product knowledge and ongoing learning about promotions and store offerings.
• Maintain clean, organized checkout area and stock impulse items as directed.
• Ability to assist customers with locating products and provide store navigation guidance.
• Strong teamwork while being accountable for individual performance.
