Description Market Manager Mission Perform all duties of and oversee all aspects of a high quality smoked meat, luncheon meat and cheese, and fresh meat and specialty fresh meat market. Smoke Meats - Monitor and maintain the quality of all smoked meats and use an extensive knowledge of the products to promote sales Fresh Meats - Prepare all varieties and cuts of fresh meat to expected high standards - Maintain a high level of quality regarding freshness and trim - Introduce new marketing ideas by being innovative in product development - Continually monitor retail prices considering trim and other factors that influence retail prices of fresh meats Personal Qualities - Self-motivated; driven to take the lead and make anything happen - Willing to sacrifice self-interest and take responsibility for who you are and what you do - Genuine, friendly, and passionate - Embrace a culture of continuous improvement - Ability to treat customers, Team Players and vendors with dignity and respect - Highly adaptable and able to handle stressful situations - Detail oriented - Passion to Sell #ZR Requirements Essential Functions - Build relationships with customers and along with Team Players provide superior customer service - Promote product sales by providing customers with information needed to make purchases - Promote large quantity sales for individuals, organizations and large events - Hire, discipline, and perform evaluations on Team Players; additionally, terminate Team Players after consultation with Assistant Store Director and/or Store Director - Effectively manage and provide quality training programs for up to 25 Team Players - Provide Team Players with complete product knowledge and monitor individual sales performance - Prepare well organized production plans and schedules based on projected sales - Order, receive, and inspect product to ensure quality and value - Achieve gross profit margins by controlling inventory, inspecting product delivery and quality, ensuring accuracy of orders and purchase invoices, managing shrink, managing supplies used, and labor cost - Achieve sales goals by rotating products, effectively merchandising service cases and self-serve displays and communicate these strategies to Team Players - Maintain sanitation and safety of food - Maintain sanitation and safe operation of all tools and machinery - Proactively monitor the product costs of fresh meats, luncheon meats and cheeses, and smoked meats and if needed adjust retail prices by collaborating with upper level colleagues - Effectively communicate with all departments on a regular basis Education, Knowledge and Experience - Several years of successful meat fabrication, meat merchandising, and some degree of managerial experience - Basic knowledge of Microsoft office and technologically based equipment - Ability to understand and use all needed equipment and machinery - Possess a thorough overall knowledge of smoked meats and value added products, i.e., quality, ingredients, production processes, preparation methods, storage methods and uses - Possess a thorough knowledge of meat quality, safety, fabrication, merchandising and marketing, processing and processes, selling, use and cooking techniques Physical and Other Requirements - Must be 18 years of age or older - Must be able to lift and carry 80 pounds - Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, reach overhead and side-to-side for an extended period of time - Must be able to move safely around equipment and possess dexterity in hands and fingers - As dictated by business and need, must be able to work extended hours and a varying work schedule
