Description

Hartley People Recruitment are currently seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Retail Manager to help drive our client’s success.
The Retail Manager will play a critical role in developing the garden centre sales and services to ensure sale targets are met on an annual basis. You will work closely with the management team to implement initiatives aimed at driving footfall and increasing sales.

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in horticulture, retail, or a related field.
  • Relevant Horticultural qualifications or certifications are preferred.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of plants, pest and disease control, horticultural products, and garden accessories.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate on the purchasing and selection of a wide variety of plants, horticultural chemicals, compost, garden accessories, and tools.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ensuring timely replenishment to meet seasonal demand
  • Manage stock wastage and write offs within industry accepted targets
  • Establish strong relationships with suppliers to ensure high-quality and cost-effective purchasing.
  • Assist customers with expert advice on plant care, product recommendations, and garden design.
  • Provide friendly and professional service to foster a welcoming shopping environment.
  • Lead initiatives to drive footfall, including seasonal promotions, in-store displays, and customer workshops.
  • Design and implement attractive and impactful visual in-store displays to engage customers and showcase the department’s offerings.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal of the garden centre/ department, ensuring that products are presented to the highest standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety processes and address non-compliance
  • Actively promote new and seasonal products, contributing to the department’s sales targets.
  • Monitor customer preferences and industry trends to adjust the product mix and enhance customer satisfaction.
