Description

Waves Carwash
Multi-Site Leadership Across Canberra
About the Role
As Retail Manager, you will organise, control, and lead the retail and customer service operations across multiple Canberra sites. You will be responsible for the commercial performance of all on-site retail activities, including car care products, value-add services, and promotions, while ensuring service standards are consistently met and exceeded.
This is a senior role with broad decision-making authority over product and service mix, pricing, purchasing, marketing, staffing, budgeting, compliance, and customer service. You will work closely with the Director to set the retail strategy and be accountable for achieving profitability and operational excellence across all carwash locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determining product and service mix, stock levels, and service standards to align with customer demand, business goals, and brand positioning across all sites
  • Formulating and implementing purchasing and marketing policies, and setting prices for retail goods (e.g., car care products) and value-add services to maximise profitability
  • Promoting and advertising the establishment’s goods and services, including developing and delivering marketing campaigns, seasonal promotions, and upsell programs
  • Selling goods and services to customers and advising them on product use, ensuring staff provide expert advice and recommend complementary services
  • Maintaining records of stock levels and financial transactions, including preparation and oversight of budgets, sales reports, and financial performance analysis
  • Undertaking budgeting for the establishment, setting and monitoring revenue targets, cost controls, and profitability strategies
  • Controlling selection, training, and supervision of staff, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, promotions, and, where necessary, termination
  • Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, implementing safety policies, conducting regular audits, and ensuring all staff meet legislative and company requirements

We’re Looking for Someone Who Has:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in retail or service industry management
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable, though not mandatory
  • Proven ability to manage full operations, including budgeting, purchasing, and marketing strategy
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to make high-level staffing decisions
  • Excellent business acumen and proven track record of achieving sales and profitability targets
  • Strong understanding of OH&S and compliance obligations in a service environment
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel between sites

Why Join Waves?
At Waves, we combine premium carwash services with a quality retail offering. As Retail Manager, you’ll have the freedom and responsibility to shape our retail operations, lead a talented team, and deliver growth while maintaining high service standards.

Benefits:

  • Monthly performance bonuses
  • Flexible working hours across multiple sites
  • Unlimited car washes and a personal internal account
  • Ongoing leadership and business development training
  • A supportive team culture with clear career progression
