JOB OVERVIEW

As a Merchandising Colleague, also known as a Front of House Colleague, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our store running smoothly and efficiently. You will aid in merchandise movement and placement, enhance the visual presentation of merchandise, arrange and maintain product displays, ensure pricing and signage is up-to-date and deliver genuine hospitality to both our customers and colleagues. Your dedication to teamwork will shine as you collaborate with colleagues to achieve department goals and foster a positive workplace. Most importantly, you’ll make every customer feel welcome by greeting them with a smile and offering your help whenever needed.

SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

Product Knowledge: Good understanding of the products in the store and be able to give expert guidance to customers based on their wants, features, and choices
Customer Service: Create connection with customers, help the store achieve sales goals, and participate in sales-boosting events
Technology: Effectively use point-of-sale technology and digital tools to streamline transactions and enhance the shopping experience
Continuous Learning: Self-driven to keep up with product knowledge and trends and stay current with all training through Macy’s educational resources to provide the best possible service
Interpersonal Skills: Create a welcoming, friendly environment for customers and colleagues, fostering meaningful conversations and connections
Collaboration: Work seamlessly with colleagues at all levels and across departments to drive sales and elevate the customer experience

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS YOU WILL PERFORM

  • This position requires lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.
  • Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 50lbs., stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders
  • Reaching, including above eye level, crouching, kneeling, stooping and color vision.
  • Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment, cash register and ability to process register transactions

Responsibilities
  • Deliver Customer Service Excellence: Greet customers warmly, actively listen to their needs, and provide thoughtful assistance. Take the time to understand their concerns and resolve issues promptly, ensuring a seamless and positive shopping experience.
  • Visual Merchandising: Support floor relocations, maintain product displays, and update mannequins and visual elements to align with company directives
  • Product Placement: Prepare and display merchandise in a visually appealing manner and replenish stock to maintain an organized presentation on the sales floor
  • Pricing & Signing: Ensure accurate pricing and signage throughout the store is by regularly using technology to update product prices, promotions, and information on products and fixtures in accordance with company guidelines and policies
  • Sales Support: Develop expertise in store products, services, loyalty programs, and Macy’s sales systems and use knowledge to help customers find what they need, complete sales transactions, and suggest additional items
  • Store Presentation: Maintain department recovery standards, including selling floor and fitting rooms
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to achieve department goals, fostering a supportive and positive work environment. Share insights, offer assistance proactively, and address challenges early to keep operations running smoothly.
