Job Details Job Location: Salisbury Branch - Salisbury, NC 28144 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $14.87 - $14.87 Hourly Job Category: Banking JOB SUMMARY The Retail Mortgage Loan Officer plays a vital role in assisting our members in achieving their homeownership and financial goals by providing expert guidance and personalized mortgage solutions while actively promoting cross-selling opportunities of additional beneficial financial products and services available to the member. You will be responsible for originating, structuring, and closing residential mortgage loans while focusing on customer satisfaction and compliance with all internal and regulatory requirements. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Attract new mortgage leads through self-sourcing from various channels, including referral sources, networking, and marketing. More than 50% of the time will be spent outside the branch office in this capacity. Attend and participate in local networking events, individually or in connection with peers, retail banking, or other teams, as opportunities become available. Build relationships with real estate agents, builders, and other referral sources to foster a steady pipeline of mortgage referrals. Meet with applicants to conduct a thorough financial assessment and analysis of applicants' creditworthiness to determine their eligibility for mortgage loans. Guide applicants through the mortgage application process, clearly explaining available products, terms, and requirements. Collaborate with wholesale lenders' account executives, processors, underwriters, and other teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of mortgage applications. Stay current on wholesale lenders' programs, guidelines, processes, industry trends, regulations, and changes in the mortgage lending landscape. Effectively manage prospect and loan pipelines to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal processes and procedures are being met and providing members with the best experience possible. Actively engage in cross-selling other financial products and services, such as checking and savings accounts, credit cards, and investment products, to enhance the overall member relationship. Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations and other stakeholders to promote the credit union's products and services to enhance community engagement. Provide support to assigned branches, including branch staff mentoring, promoting products to members that assist the branch with meeting its growth goals, and networking/prospecting in the communities served by the assigned branch(s). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute targeted campaigns and initiatives that enhance member engagement. Stay current on financial products and services offered by the credit union. Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES N/A Qualifications EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in mortgage brokering and/or retail mortgage lending, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. Active mortgage NMLS registration KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Proven track record of building and nurturing strong client/member relationships. Demonstrated understanding of lending principles, regulations, and credit analysis. Thorough knowledge of the secondary mortgage market and underwriting guidelines such as FNMA, FRMC, and Government programs. Requires the ability to work before and after normal scheduled work hours. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of credit union's products and services. Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and sustain them. Foster relationships and collaborate with internal and external partners to identify opportunities to maximize organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Professional presence, a positive and enthusiastic demeanor, and the ability to build relationships at all levels. Strong interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated in a variety of business circumstances. Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and sustain them. Proficiency in mortgage loan point of sale, loan origination software, and MS Office Suite PHYSICAL DEMANDS Remaining stationary, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
