OVERVIEW The Retail Operations & Merchandising Manager plays a key role in driving profitability, guest satisfaction, and brand consistency across all Great Escapes RV Resorts retail operations. This position oversees merchandising execution, inventory accuracy, and retail financial performance at the park level, supporting both Great Escapes and Jellystone Park™ branded properties.   This hands-on role requires significant travel and collaboration with resort teams to ensure retail spaces reflect our brand standards, maintain strong cost controls, and deliver an exceptional guest shopping experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS RETAIL OPERATIONS OVERSIGHT * Serve as the primary support for retail operations across all resort locations, ensuring consistency in presentation, pricing, and procedures. * Partner with General Managers and Assistant Managers to implement retail best practices and ensure alignment with company objectives. * Conduct on-site retail audits, evaluate performance, and identify opportunities for improvement. * Monitor retail KPIs including sales, COGS, margin, inventory turns, and shrink. * Support new retail openings, remodels, and POS or system rollouts. MERCHANDISING & VISUAL STANDARDS * Develop, communicate, and maintain visual merchandising guidelines that align with the Great Escapes brand. * Execute seasonal resets, promotional displays, and product launches at the property level. * Partner with marketing and recreation teams to develop retail assortments that complement programming and guest experience themes. * Train park teams on visual merchandising techniques and guest engagement strategies. INVENTORY & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT * Monitor inventory levels to ensure accurate on-hand counts and efficient stock rotation. * Support parks in managing purchase orders, product flow, and vendor invoicing. * Analyze COGS reports and work collaboratively to improve profitability while maintaining guest value. * Coordinate annual and quarterly inventory counts, ensuring accuracy and accountability. * Oversee inventory transfers between locations, ensuring proper documentation, tracking, and reporting through the POS and warehouse systems. * Serve as the primary liaison with the VenueSumo team, streamlining product setup and maintenance across all locations. Ensure consistency in POS data, pricing, and product categorization, reducing duplication and maintaining integrity in systemwide reporting. * Monitor pricing impacts related to shipping, tariffs, and other external cost factors, partnering with the VP of Operations to communicate adjustments and maintain margin stability. COMPLIANCE & PRODUCT SAFETY * Stay current on legal and safety regulations related to the importation of children’s products and other retail merchandise. * Ensure all retail offerings comply with applicable federal and state regulations, including labeling and consumer safety requirements. VENDOR RELATIONS & BUYING SUPPORT * Collaborate with the corporate purchasing team to identify and evaluate vendors. * Provide input on assortment planning, regional preferences, and vendor performance. * Negotiate pricing and logistics with suppliers when applicable to optimize product mix and profitability. * Travel seasonally to trade shows or vendor locations to source and develop new products. * Proactively coordinate pre-packing opportunities with vendors to maximize speed to floor and reduce costs, collaborating closely with warehouse operations to ensure items are packed according to company standards. LEADERSHIP & TEAM SUPPORT * Demonstrate strong customer service and relationship management skills, fostering collaboration with both internal teams and external partners. * Train and mentor on-site retail leaders in merchandising, operational excellence, and guest service. * Build and maintain strong cross-departmental communication to support the company’s overall guest experience objectives. * Ensure all parks adhere to safety, cleanliness, and loss-prevention standards. TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS Up to 70% travel to resort locations nationwide. Frequent overnight stays required, particularly during high season and event periods. QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum 5 years of experience in retail operations, field merchandising, or multi-site retail management. * Proven success in managing COGS, inventory accuracy, and vendor relationships. * Demonstrated experience training and developing field teams. * Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. * Proficiency in POS and inventory systems (CenterEdge and VenueSumo experience preferred). * Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hospitality-oriented environment. * Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout stores and resort facilities for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally perform setup of displays or product fixtures. Frequent exposure to outdoor conditions including heat, humidity, and variable weather.
