Description

About the Position

This is a hands-on retail management position with responsibility for our retail floor, customer experience and retail team.

You do not need to know anything about pools or hot tubs when you start. We can teach you our industry. What we need you to bring is the ability to learn, good judgment, attention to detail, reliability, work ethic and the ability to work well with people.

The starting point is learning our business from the retail floor. You’ll learn how to help a customer with a water test, find the right replacement part for a pool or hot tub, understand our products, process everyday transactions, and become someone our customers and staff can rely on for answers.

This is a working manager’s position. Your primary workplace is the retail floor, alongside the people you’re managing and the customers we’re serving. You’ll also have a dedicated desk in our shared company office for scheduling, planning, paperwork and other management responsibilities, but this is not a position where the manager spends the day behind a desk.

If a customer needs a bag of salt carried to their vehicle, a shelf needs stocking, something needs cleaning, or the team is busy and needs another set of hands, you are part of the team getting it done.

Leading the Retail Team

Our business has two very different seasons. For approximately eight months of the year, you’ll work with our core year-round retail team, with approximately three direct reports. During our four-month pool season, seasonal staff are added and the retail team grows to approximately eight direct reports.

You’ll manage staff schedules, coach and direct employees, maintain the standards and presentation established for the retail floor, solve everyday problems, and make sure our customers are being well looked after. You’ll be responsible for keeping the floor organized, stocked, clean and operating the way it should. The expectation is that you take real ownership of maintaining an excellent retail environment and ensuring the team consistently delivers it.
