Whilst working in a vet practice back in the 1990s, our founder was blown away by the impact of raw feeding on pet health and recovery. She set about researching and developing raw diets and began delivering them to owners who then experienced impressive improvements also. To make raw dog food and raw cat food more accessible the first Nurturing by Nature shop was opened in 2006 – the first ever in the UK.
Fast forward to today, as a family business we now service customers throughout the UK from our dedicated manufacturing and distribution centre in Dorset and through our stores. Our products are all made to the founder’s specification in our own facilities with high quality ingredients ethically sourced to human food standards.
Our customers consistently tell us that they are unable to find anyone else that provide raw dog food or raw cat food who can match our service or products.

Responsibilities

PRE-REQUISITE RESPONSIBILITIES (ALL PERSONNEL):

  • Ensure compliance with all legal standards related to Food Safety and Hygiene.
  • Adhere to company protocols concerning Food Safety, Hygiene, and Health and Safety.
  • Work according to the company’s Quality Management System, training requirements, and company HACCP policy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute strategies to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Develop store strategies to raise the customer pool, expand store traffic, and optimise profitability.
  • Provide coaching and motivation to the sales team to advance their skills and achieve sales goals.
  • Oversee and train retail staff to ensure the team is highly motivated and well-informed about our products and sales techniques.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and compliance with monthly audits.
  • Manage daily store operations, oversee inventory, order supplies, and liaise with Dispatch & Production department managers to ensure product availability.
  • Manage the rollout of new product launches with urgency and precision.
  • Provide constructive feedback to other department managers on product quality and service to improve sales and efficiency of product delivery.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Social Media teams to promote products, services, and events.
  • Keep updated on the raw pet food market, both locally and nationally.
  • Learn the basics of feeding raw and increase knowledge about the benefits, sourcing, and quality of products.
  • Implement offers, promotions, and advertising strategies to outperform the market.
  • Ensure labelling is correctly displayed per Trading Standards Regulations.
  • Have a keen eye for product merchandising and positioning to improve sales within retail stores.
  • Oversee cost budgets for the department and report on sales performance to the Senior Management Team.
  • Regularly review performance data and use KPIs to measure and adjust strategies to meet business objectives.
  • Uphold and promote the company’s values both in-person and online, enhancing brand visibility and fostering customer loyalty.
  • Manage and promote the stores across social media platforms to increase visibility and drive customer engagement.
  • Travel regularly between all four store locations to provide support and ensure consistent operations.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with retail floor activities when needed.
  • Maintain flexible availability, including weekends, to meet business needs.
