Join one of our teams in Takapuna, North Shore as a Retail Security Officer and be the visible, friendly presence that customers and store teams can rely on. The successful candidate for this role must be flexible in their availability to work through out the week, and be available for both morning and evening shifts. Shift timings for this role will vary but will either be 0445-1330 and 1400-2200. This is a guaranteed 24 hour per week contract with the opportunity to pick up additional hours at other North Shore/Auckland sites. What you’ll be doing: Provide a professional and approachable security presence across the retail site, including foot patrols, static guarding and customer assistance. Complete Unlock & Lock Up procedures across the site. Monitor shop floors, entrances, exits, storage areas and car parks to detect and deter theft, vandalism, anti-social behaviour and unauthorised access. Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents, disturbances, alarm activations and medical events; assess situations and escalate to management or emergency services when required. Complete accurate incident reports, daily logs and handover notes to ensure clear communication between shifts. Report hazards, maintenance issues and safety concerns through the correct channels to maintain a safe environment for customers and staff. What we’re looking for: Hold, or be able to obtain, a current NZ COA (Certificate of Approval) security licence. Eligible to work in New Zealand and at least 18 years of age. Reliable, punctual and able to work rostered shifts including weekends, evenings and public holidays as required. Strong observational skills, sound judgement and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to de-escalate challenging interactions respectfully and lawfully. Ability to safely and effectively de‑escalate aggressive or challenging behaviour while maintaining professionalism. Proven ability to work independently, use initiative and follow procedures accurately. Clean criminal record and willingness to undergo required background checks.
