JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Retail Supervisor
Department: Food and Beverage Operations
Job Summary: Generates sales, assists with merchandising, and safeguards the assets of the Gaming Enterprise Division (GED) while providing outstanding guest service. This is the second in a series of two (2) classifications. Incumbents work at a high level of expertise, exercise judgment and independence in performance of duties, and supervise the work of others.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of service industry standards for full service and upscale luxury hotels.
  • Knowledge of merchandising and suggestive selling.
  • Knowledge of departmental and GED policies, standards, and procedures as well as applicable laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of scheduling team members and projects.
  • Skill in coordinating the completion of projects and the work activities of others.
  • Proficiency with cash registers, calculators, currency transactions, and point of sale systems.
  • Strong organizational, planning, time management and communication skills.
  • Skill in working courteously with guests as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate and follow directions effectively.
  • Ability to meet assigned goals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
  • Ability to complete work assignments efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to identify and correct unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations pertaining to the position, including the ability to accurately handle and count money as well as make change.
  • Ability to operate all equipment needed for the position, including standard office equipment such as a multi-line telephone, computer, and photocopier.
  • Ability to read and write legibly.
  • Ability to maintain the physical stamina required, including an ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift and move twenty (20) or more pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel and crouch, and reach objects above shoulder height.
  • Ability to work in a smoking environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One (1) year of retail sales experience.
  • Proficiency with cash registers, calculators, currency transactions, and point of sale systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise others.
  • Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness, and initiative.
  • Demonstrated track record of providing excellent guest service.
  • Must be able to maintain the physical stamina required, including an ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift and move twenty (20) or more pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed.
  • Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Must be able to obtain, maintain, and retain a valid gaming license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Responsibilities
  • Performs the duties of the Retail Representative.
  • Coordinates, assigns, and inspects the work activities of an assigned group of team members.
  • Schedules and inspects the work of team members performing specialized tasks such as inventory.
  • Provides guidance in directing the completion of work activities; ensures team members work as a team and satisfy guests to promote profitability.
  • Serves as a mentor and coach for Retail Representatives.
  • Identifies the need for tasks such as revising guidelines and policies and revising sales goals.
  • Recommends purchases of such items as merchandise and office supplies; ensures storerooms are adequately stocked.
  • Recommends new methods to promote efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Recommends training programs for team members; conducts some training programs.
  • Assists Managers with administrative functions such as writing and issuing call logs and contributing to performance appraisals.
  • Assists Managers with employee relation matters such as conducting investigations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
