Description

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Retina Technician to join our specialized ophthalmology practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional technical support for retinal examinations and procedures while delivering outstanding patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive retinal imaging including OCT, fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, and autofluorescence
  • Conduct visual field testing and other specialized diagnostic procedures
  • Assist physicians with intravitreal injections and in office procedures
  • Obtain detailed patient histories and document findings accurately in EMR systems
  • Prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures to ensure comfort and compliance
  • Maintain and calibrate diagnostic equipment according to manufacturer specifications
  • Ensure proper sterilization and infection control protocols are followed
  • Coordinate patient flow and appointment scheduling as needed
  • Provide patient education regarding post-procedure care and follow-up instructions

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years experience in ophthalmology or retina specialty practice
  • Proficiency with OCT, OPTOS, fundus cameras, and fluorescein angiography equipment
  • Strong knowledge of retinal anatomy and pathology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • EMR experience preferred (Nextech, or similar)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) certification
  • Previous experience with anti-VEGF injections and retinal procedures
  • Bilingual capabilities (Spanish preferred)
  • Experience with practice management software
