JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Client Solutions Centre (CSC) within Sun Life Financial (SLF) Canada represents one of the fastest growing and profitable areas in the Canadian operations, with over $10B in assets in the my Savings Choices savings plans and incredible penetration with the my Life Choices / Health Coverage Choices products.
By taking on this challenging role, you will manage a team of Retirement Consultants who take pride in educating and providing investment advice to group plan members who are approaching or at retirement (including supporting the conversion of their savings/assets to income products). Our Retirement Consultants are salaried advisors, life licensed in all provinces and territories. They are familiar with pension legislation across all Canadian jurisdictions, and are well versed in financial matters including retirement planning, income solutions, investment strategies and products including annuities. Our Retirement Consultant Team is part of the Client Solutions Centre (CSC) at Sun Life, which is inbound and outbound call centre located in Montreal and Toronto. As a key contributor to the ongoing success of the CSC in the Client Solutions division, you will be responsible for building a high performing team and creating a work environment with high engagement.

Main accountabilities:

  • Provide management, leadership direction, and support to a Client Solutions Centre team which is responsible for completing sales over the telephone, or in some unique instances, in person.
  • Assist in the creation of a client and sales-centric atmosphere.
  • Manage the day-to-day sales and service function, ensuring that both the sales and service elements of the team are functioning optimally.
  • Establish strong relationships within the CSC in an effort to maintain and encourage positive morale and a high level of staff engagement.
  • Responsible for executing against business goals and objectives.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are effectively administered within the CSC.
  • Ensure that proper controls are in place to minimize business risk exposure.
  • Identify strengths/gaps within individual and team skill sets, build capability and skill to close gaps and capitalize on strengths.
  • Ensure that the Financial Services Consultants have an adequate understanding of life and health benefits products, and trends within these marketplaces.
  • Monitor the ongoing qualification/licensing requirements of the team.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and work with business partners to analyze results and ensure issues are dealt with in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two plus years people management experience
  • Two plus years sales experience with wealth and/or insurance products
  • Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required as the position includes managing French and English-speaking staff (Quebec and outside Quebec) and providing daily support to the team.
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills
  • Strong coaching and performance management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comprehensive and deep understanding of insurance products, wealth management products, financial markets, retirement options and annuities
  • Strong knowledge of retirement products (RIF, LIF, Annuity)
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning
  • Knowledge of Group Retirement Services’ and Group Benefits’ products processes, legislation, and tax requirements
  • Passion for relationship building and strong customer service orientation
  • Post secondary education or relevant job experience

Assets:

  • Call Centre experience
  • Knowledge of Sun Life products
  • A valid Insurance of person license in Quebec (1a)
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and/or Canadian Investment Fund Course (IFIC)
