Job Description
We’re looking for a proactive and commercially minded Revenue Accountant to take the lead on agency billings and drive best practice in job financial management across our business.
You’ll be the go-to person for all things related to billing, revenue recognition and job setup within Workbook - our agency’s operating system. You’ll work closely with teams across the agency to promote timely, accurate and efficient financial processes, helping reduce risk and improve profitability.
This role is all about partnership; you’ll be a trusted advisor to account teams, helping them navigate financial systems, build better processes and improve client reporting. It’s perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and brings strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
About the role
The Revenue Accountant is responsible for building partnerships and trust across all levels of the business, influencing without direct authority. Building credibility through transparent communication and reliable follow-through is vital. This role requires a strong analytical thinker along with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, enabling smooth collaboration across diverse teams and departments.
The role is critical in educating and promoting best practices in prompt billings, managing and monitoring financial activity on all jobs, and thereby removing the risk of project write-offs to maximise operating margins and cashflows.

This is a full-time position, however, part-time and flexible work arrangements can be considered. Think HQ is a family-friendly, hybrid workplace. Our in-office days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Our Flex days are Tuesday and Thursday.

Responsibilities

Be the key point of contact for Agency Billings & Revenue recognition:

  • Initiate and oversee the draft invoice workflow, ensuring timely approvals and accurate finalisation
  • Maintain clean and accurate client billing data in Workbook to support efficient invoicing
  • Continuously review and refine billing processes to improve accuracy and turnaround times
  • Drive monthly revenue recognition and financial accuracy
  • Lead the monthly revenue recognition process, including job adjustments and reconciliations
  • Ensure accurate rate card management in Workbook for budgeting, billing and time-sheeting
  • Support financial close processes with timely and accurate revenue reporting
  • Partner with account management on job setup and financial tracking
  • Set up jobs, budgets, phases and activities in Workbook in line with best practices and client requirements
  • Monitor job progress in collaboration with teams, identifying risks early and developing mitigation plans
  • Work closely with account managers to ensure accurate cost allocations and timely timesheet submissions

Lead best practice, end-to-end, Job Financial Management:

  • Set up job, budget, phase and activity structures, aligned to best practice or specific client reporting requirements in Workbook
  • Monitor job tracking, flag budget watchlist jobs early and develop suitable mitigation options
  • Upskill key stakeholders on processes and Workbook ‘know how’
  • Ensure teams are allocating timesheets to the correct jobs
  • Ensure teams are allocating job costs to the correct jobs

Client Reporting and System Optimisation:

With support from the broader Finance & Operations team and external partners ensure Workbook is correctly setup and utilised to produce powerful and accurate Client Reporting, per Client Agreements to secure the below outcomes:

  • Timely, accurate and efficient Billings
  • Reduced risk of Job writing offs, both internal time and external costs, resulting in increased operating profit margins
  • Timely, accurate and efficient Client Reporting, bespoke to client requirements
  • Timely, accurate and efficient Client Profitability to aid client remuneration negotiations
  • Lifting the Agency’s overall Workbook knowledge and Job Financial Management acumen
  • Established, trusted partnerships across all departments of the Agency

About you

  • 5+ years’ experience in a billings, revenue or client accountant role, ideally in an integrated agency
  • A degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Strong commercial acumen with a focus on improving margins and minimising write-offs
  • Solid understanding of business systems and job financial management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; you’re comfortable influencing without authority
  • Experience working with diverse clients, including government, corporate and not-for-profits
  • A detail-oriented mindset with strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence using platforms like Workbook (or similar) and collaborating with stakeholders to implement system improvements
