POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Revenue Cycle/Senior Consultant plays a critical role in identifying and resolving revenue cycle challenges across multiple healthcare client engagements. This position requires a strong foundation in medical billing, coding, collections, and financial reporting, with a focus on improving operational efficiency and reimbursement accuracy. The Revenue Cycle/Senior Consultant will manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to scope, and measurable outcomes. Success in this role depends on the ability to analyze data from various health record systems, communicate effectively with clients and team members, and contribute to a collaborative and results-driven environment.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES):

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Healthcare reimbursement/collections, medical billing, CPT/ICD9/ICD10 coding, financial reporting and management, with a strong knowledge of the collections process
  • Thorough understanding of medical billing, collections and payment posting, revenue cycle, third party billing requirements
  • Ability to develop and implement processes for A/R, billing turnaround, clean claims, payer turnaround, adjustments, rejection, collection, and other efforts related to metrics measuring revenue cycle performance
  • Serve as a mentor, leader, partner and expert in the capture, management and collection of patient service revenue
  • Performing trend analysis, root cause analysis and provide guidance and direction for improvement based on conclusive findings
  • Knowledge and understanding of the credentialing process
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and part of a team
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Willingness to share skills, competencies, and knowledge with others
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Solid understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in in Health Care Administration, Finance, Accounting or other related degree
  • At least 7 years of revenue cycle management experience
  • Health care experience
  • FQHC cycle and billing experience is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Able to travel as needed
Responsibilities
  • Identify revenue cycle problems and implement solutions for improvement in a timely fashion
  • Ability to run reports from various health record systems and analyze the given information
  • Support projects with a goal of delivering on time, on budget and with positive and measurable outcomes
  • Ability to adhere to a project scope
  • Effectively communicate and foster good relationships with both teammates and clients
  • Perform work on multiple client engagements assigned to several Lead Consultants or other designated project leads at a time
  • Own project assignments from start to finish, and proactively communicate needs and barriers appropriately and timely throughout project assignments
  • All Consultants have a charge hour budget goal they are expected to achieve on an annual basis
