Position Summary The Revenue Cycle Specialist plays a critical role in managing Brook’s end-to-end billing and reimbursement processes, ensuring claims are accurate, submitted on time, and resolved efficiently. The Revenue Cycle Specialist is accountable for meeting submission and follow-up timelines, resolving denials proactively, and maintaining precise documentation across all revenue-cycle activities. Requirements Key Responsibilities Claim Preparation & Timely Submission Prepare, review, and submit accurate claims to commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payors within required submission deadlines Validate coding, modifiers, and supporting documentation to prevent errors, rework, and delays Maintain disciplined claim submission workflows to ensure consistency, accuracy, and on-time execution Denial Management, Follow-Up & Appeals Review denied or underpaid claims promptly and prioritize follow-up based on aging and financial impact Identify root causes and trends in denials and take corrective action to prevent recurrence Prepare and submit appeals and corrected claims within payor-defined timeframes Patient-Focused Financial Service Verify insurance coverage and benefits accurately and in advance when possible Calculate patient financial responsibility and communicate balances clearly, respectfully, and with empathy Respond to patient billing inquiries promptly, demonstrating a service-oriented and solutions-focused approach Accounts Receivable Ownership Actively manage assigned A/R, ensuring timely follow-up, documentation, and resolution Track outstanding balances, meet follow-up deadlines, and maintain accurate aging reports Escalate risks to timely payment and cash flow as appropriate Revenue Accuracy & Optimization Identify bottlenecks, errors, or workflow gaps that delay payment or increase rework Partner with Finance and Clinical Operations to improve accuracy, efficiency, and predictability in billing outcomes Compliance, Accuracy & Documentation Maintain thorough, audit-ready documentation that supports billing decisions and payor requirements Adhere strictly to healthcare regulations, internal policies, and compliance standards Cross-Functional Partnership Collaborate closely with Clinical Operations, Partner Success, and Finance to ensure aligned, service-driven revenue-cycle execution Communicate clearly and proactively to prevent downstream issues Process Discipline & Continuous Improvement Contribute to improvements in billing workflows, automation, and reporting while maintaining accuracy and deadline integrity Support system updates and process changes with attention to detail and follow-through Support additional revenue-cycle responsibilities as needed to ensure service continuity and operational excellence Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of healthcare billing, coding, and claims-management processes Proven ability to manage high-volume, detail-sensitive work while meeting strict deadlines Highly detail-oriented with a track record of accuracy and consistency Service-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills for patient and payor interactions Proficiency with EMR/EHR revenue-cycle modules Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for tracking and reporting Highly organized, dependable, and accountable in a fast-paced healthcare environment Collaborative, solution-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement Preferred Experience Minimum 3 years of accounts receivable or billing experience in a healthcare setting Epic or Cerner certification strongly preferred Medical Billing Certification strongly preferred High school diploma or equivalent required Working at Brook Fast-paced environment – Brook operates in two of the fastest changing industries in America – Healthcare and Technology.
