Description

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Photonic Integration Technology Center (PITC) is a leading R&D institute, founded by the Eindhoven University of Technology (TUe), the University of Twente (UT), the Netherlands organization for applied scientific research (TNO located at Holst Centre) and PhotonDelta. PITC’s mission is to accelerate the uptake of integrated photonics by helping industrial partners close the bridge from research to commercialisation and help to solve some of society’s biggest challenges, by working on applications ranging from road safety and health monitoring to energy-efficient data handling and communication to data security. PITC is located in Eindhoven and Enschede in The Netherlands, and makes use of excellent research facilities: the NanoLabs in Eindhoven and Enschede, with world-leading technology platforms based on resp. indium phosphide and silicon nitride, and the heterogenous integration platform of InP and SiN developed at the high tech campus in Eindhoven. This role is based in Eindhoven. We are seeking a talented RF Electronic Design Engineer to join our PITC team. As an RF & Electronics Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be part of an innovative heterogeneous photonic integration team. With your expertise, you will ensure, and continue to improve through your designs, that our photonic chips interact with RF & electronic counterparts in a compact and efficient system-on-chip (SoC). You will also collaborate with a varied team of photonics experts, electronics engineers, software engineers, and electronics & photonics packaging specialists.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Design, simulate, and implement RF circuits (including amplifiers, transmission lines, filters, etc.) for optical communications applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of RF designs with photonic systems, ensuring that all designs meet performance standards and compatibility requirements.
  • Prototype SoC designs to ensure optimal performance, while providing all necessary documentation.
  • Test and validate RF designs using specialized equipment to guarantee the desired performance.
  • Actively participate in reviewing colleagues’ designs and, where applicable, coach junior engineers.
  • Develop PCB designs for optical communications as well as other relevant applications.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in RF technology and industry trends.
