Description
Job Overview:   The RF Engineer II contributes to the design, development, and enhancement of RF and microwave products with increasing independence and technical depth. This role works on moderately complex engineering challenges, supports cross‑functional initiatives, and plays an active part in driving product improvements, new product development, and customer-focused solutions. While guidance is still available, the RF Engineer II is expected to apply prior experience, sound engineering judgment, and problem‑solving skills with limited supervision.   Duties & Responsibilities:   * Works on moderately complex RF engineering problems, applying standard engineering principles and developing solutions with minimal guidance. * Participates in engineering projects of broader scope, contributing to system, product, or process development and improvement. * Helps define project parameters, requirements, and technical specifications across multiple areas of focus. * Independently designs, models, and develops prototypes of RF and microwave components and subsystems, including filters, amplifiers, and related hardware. * Performs RF system- and circuit-level analysis, verifying performance against design targets and regulatory or customer requirements. * Prepares technical quotations for standard and custom RF/microwave products, with input into cost, feasibility, and timelines. * Oversees and supports manufacturing processes, including DFM reviews, new product introduction, and resolution of production challenges. * Conducts root-cause analysis for performance issues or manufacturing defects and implements corrective actions. * Collaborates with cross-functional departments (Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Supply Chain) to provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support. * Communicates professionally with customers via written reports, presentations, and technical discussions; may participate in customer meetings or design reviews. * Regularly informs management of project status, risks, timelines, and technical challenges. * Prepares and delivers technical presentations internally and externally. * Maintains design documentation, test reports, and engineering records in accordance with internal protocols. * Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications & Skills:   * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred. * Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. * Minimum two (2) years of hands-on RF engineering experience, preferably in RF/microwave component or subsystem design. * Working knowledge of RF and microwave components such as filters, LNAs, power amplifiers, oscillators, couplers, and switches. * Ability to read, interpret, and generate detailed technical drawings and RF schematics. * Proficiency with RF/microwave simulation and synthesis tools (e.g., Genesys, HFSS, CST, ADS, or similar). * Experience with CAD tools for mechanical or RF layout preferred. * Familiarity with RF test equipment (VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators) and standard measurement techniques. * Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. * Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks effectively with evolving priorities. * Strong project coordination and time management capabilities. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of technical reports and customer-facing documentation.   Work Physical Requirements:   * Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer or test bench. * Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs., such as equipment, prototypes, or test fixtures. * Manual dexterity to handle small components, tools, and precision instruments. * Ability to bend, reach, and move between office, lab, and manufacturing areas. * Ability to work with small RF and microwave components under a microscope for extended periods. * Ability to safely work around manufacturing equipment, RF test gear, and standard lab environments (with appropriate PPE when required).
Responsibilities
The RF Engineer II works on moderately complex RF engineering problems and contributes to system, product, or process development and improvement. This role involves designing, modeling, and developing prototypes of RF and microwave components while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
