Nokomis develops and manufactures the world’s most sensitive RF and Microwave sensors to solve the unique needs of our government customers. Nokomis has executed on hundreds of advanced government R&D efforts since 2002. We are in a growth phase and are hiring for our Canonsburg location.
We are seeking versatile problem solvers that can apply their skills and experience to a wide array of design challenges and produce results that enhance the company’s product offerings. The RF Engineer is responsible for overseeing engineering activities, managing workflow and monitoring progress toward goals. This position will develop, implement and field test the latest cutting-edge RF and microwave technology. The candidate should be comfortable executing on and potentially leading multiple projects. This position requires a multi-disciplined Engineer, capable of solving complex technical problems and providing innovative solutions in the areas of RF Engineering.
The candidate should have experience with anechoic chambers and RF and microwave measurements at the system and board level. Any unique skills and experience on the part, board and system level that will enhance our ability to develop the most sensitive Radio Frequency (RF) systems on the planet are a plus. Though, candidates with specialized experience in digital design, analog design mixed signal design or RF design will be considered as each of these disciplines is required. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of and experience with digital, analog, mixed signal and RF systems within a cross functional team to develop products from concept to reality.
This is a direct hire and is a full-time, salaried position. It requires daily, on-site work and is based out of our newest office in Canonsburg, PA. Please be aware that, due to our work with government contracts, all Nokomis employees must be US citizens. This position requires business-related travel as necessary to support company and customer needs. Typical business travel for this position is less than 10%.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • MSEE or PhD EE or equivalent (RF Engineering, Physics etc.) anticipated though highly skilled BSEE candidates with 10 years plus experience will be considered.
  • Strong background in digital and analog design with aptitude in RF and microwave concepts
  • Design for manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience with printed circuit boards and digital boards
  • EDA, (Mentor Graphics PADS or equivalent)
  • Ability to seamlessly utilize lab instrumentation, such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers & spectrum analyzers and aptitude as a quick-learn on other equipment
  • Familiar with embedded systems
  • Understanding of nuances of hardware/software interface and ability to design products with interdisciplinary teams that have efficient hardware/software interface
  • Experience with high speed circuitry
  • EMI/EMC design & test preferred

Desired:

  • Experience in RF circuit design for receiver systems
  • Experience in high-speed digital/RF PCB design from schematic capture to board layout.
  • Design experience with products including embedded hardware and FPGA architecture
  • Electromagnetic simulation tool experience a plus.
  • Programming or C/C++ experience

Responsibilities
