WHO WE ARE SUPPORTING

The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO’s member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:

  • Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO’s communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
  • Command and Control Systems: The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO’s military commanders to plan and execute operations.
  • Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
  • Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO’s mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.
  • Information Management: The NCIA manages NATO’s information technology infrastructure, including its databases, applications, and servers.

Overall, the NCIA plays a critical role in ensuring the security and effectiveness of NATO’s communication and information technology capabilities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in mechanical work, using several mechanical work machines.
  • Theoretical knowledge and practical experience of Pneumatic Controls Systems.
  • Knowledge about various Earthing and Grounding concepts of static and deployable installations.
  • Must have experience within the profile of computer science or information technology.
  • Proficient in the use of general and standard test, measurement and diagnostic equipment.

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Desirable knowledge of Spectrum analysis and Radio Frequency (RF) and modulation measurement techniques

EDUCATION

  • Vocational training at a higher level in RF Electronics and Radio Communications Engineering or relevant discipline with 1 years of post-related experience; or a secondary educational qualification with 2 years post-related experience.
Responsibilities

ROLE BACKGROUND

Shielding Effectiveness Testing and maintenance of shielded enclosures to meet the requirements for Electromagnetic Pulse Protection (EMPP), Communication Security (COMSEC), TEMPEST and any other Radio Frequency (RF) interference protection on NATO common static facilities and transportable CIS systems according to NATO and International recognized standards

ROLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • ACE Manual 93-5-1, EMPP Assurance and Maintenance for NATO
  • Common Funded Facilities, Installations and Equipment.
  • MIL-STD-188-125-1, High-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) protection for ground-based C4I facilities performing critical, timeurgent missions. Part 1 Fixed facilities.
  • IEEE-299, Standard Method for Measuring the Effectiveness of - Electromagnetic Shielding Enclosures, was adopted to provide a suitable and efficient test procedure.
  • AEP-41, Unified Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (UE3) protection, philosophy and methodology.
  • Capable to support the UE3 POW which involves several TDY’s.
  • Assist and performs inspections and maintenance to assure the required Radio Frequency (RF) shielding for all NATO common funded facilities, installations, and CIS.
  • Performs on-site shielding effectiveness testing and minor repairs on RF shielded doors, honeycomb filters, waveguides, signal and power line filters (including insertion loss testing).
  • Performs tests, modifications and minor repair on pneumatic control systems.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining NCI Agency E3 related technical procedures, making analyses and recommendations for their improvement and assuring that procedures are duly updated, valid and adequate to be used by the team for executing the assigned mission.
  • Prepares and records maintenance & test reports and studies.
  • Maintains the NCI Agency UE3 Data Base, as well as the regular administrative files, including keeping records of all spare parts utilized and updating the team’s spare parts stock.
  • Maintains a consistently high standard of workmanship and quality control in the assigned field of Unified Electromagnetic Environmental Effects.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal assistance or supervision.
  • Demonstrate work related functions within the area of expertise.
  • Ensures all Health and Safety measures are adhered to and reports deficiency to correct.
