A rheumatology office is seeking a part-time medical office assistant (MOA) . The role aims to help create a friendly and welcoming environment for patients and families. The office is located in a multidisciplinary centre consisting of various allied health professionals, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and rehabilitation assistants. A Medical Office Assistant (MOA) is an integral part of our specialist team . The MOA is responsible for:

  • Coordinating patient flow in the clinic between reception, examination, and treatment areas to ensure a comfortable visit
  • Creating a warm and welcoming environment for patients
  • Answering phones, communicating with and assisting patients
  • Scheduling and confirming appointments
  • Maintaining electronic medical records, including the patient chart
  • Documenting patient communications in patient files
  • Performing billing procedures (MSP, ICBC, WCB, etc) and applying /collecting non-insured fees where applicable
  • Cleaning and stocking examination rooms
  • Sterilizing medical rooms and equipment

MUST-HAVE attributes include:

  • Physical presence in Victoria, BC
  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Experience with medical record systems
  • Ability to address patient concerns and challenges with compassion and resilience
  • Ability to function well under stress and in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and discretion
  • Attention to detail
  • Friendly can–do attitude

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
