Description

At Lighthouse Studios, our six core values, pride, passion, persistence, playfulness, poise and people-focus, underpin everything we do and provide guidance for us as we grow and learn.
We are now on the hunt for experienced Toon Boom Animators to work on exciting new shows happening: Rick and Morty + a Top Secret Series (also 16+). We are looking for people who will join us in our quest to create the best possible animated content for our partners. The artist will be required from May 2025 until Sept/Oct 2025.
The roles relate to shows that have been classified 16+ and while the subject matter of the shows are presented in a fantasy or comic context, the production may contain contextually justified strong language, references to sex, drugs, horror, threat, and/or violence of a non-gratuitous nature, which some applicants may find objectionable. Lighthouse will always seek to reasonably accommodate those applicants with conscientious or other objections, however given the nature of both the roles and subject matter, this may not always be possible. Applicant discretion is therefore advised.
PLEASE NOTE: This role is based in our studio in Kilkenny, Ireland, and there is no option to work freelance.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your role as an animator is to create final approved Animation according to a weekly quota as advised in your contract and as agreed with the animation director and communicated by your immediate supervisor. This role will also require you to work on polish/retakes. At Lighthouse studios we use Toon boom harmony as our main animation software
We really value can-do attitudes here at Lighthouse. If you’re someone who thinks outside the box and looks for solutions, not problems, then you’ll fit right in!

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Animate an assigned number of frames as per quota per week. Please note that quota can vary depending on difficulty and complexity of the assigned scene, which will be assessed by the production department and the relevant supervisor
  • Follow the instructions of both the animation supervisor/lead and the production manager in order to meet creative standards and production deadlines
  • Communicate any problems to the animation supervisor, production manager and production coordinator
  • Communicate progress of work to the animation supervisor, production manager and production coordinator
  • Ensure all notes/retakes are addressed as instructed maintaining the quality and style of the show
  • Support junior crew members occasionally, as per supervisor’s request
  • Follow exact procedures set by Lighthouse Studios (i.e. file naming and storage) according to the production’s guidelines
  • You may be asked to work on Animation Director’s Polish notes and Client Retake notes
The above is not exhaustive and from time to time you may be asked to carry out other tasks.
