Description Rigger Abbeville, LA Job Summary The Rigger is responsible for preparing, setting, aligning, and securing heavy equipment and machinery. This role includes inspecting and selecting rigging gear, following OSHA safety standards, and coordinating with crane operators and construction teams. The ideal candidate must demonstrate attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces under varying conditions. Key Responsibilities Complete and discuss a thorough Job Safety Analysis (JSA) prior to each task. Maintain a positive attitude towards both internal and external customer service. Inspect and prepare loads that need to be moved. Set, align, and level heavy equipment and machinery. Select and prepare the appropriate rigging gear including beams, pulleys, clamps, and bolts. Ensure compliance with state and company safety procedures. Communicate effectively with the rigging and construction team. Break down rigging equipment and conduct post-rigging inspections. Assist equipment operators as needed. Properly torque and rig equipment and machinery. Direct crane operators on proper equipment placement. Test installed machinery and make necessary adjustments or repairs. Perform hot bolt and torque procedures as required. Observe and comply with all safety and project-specific rules. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Preferably 3–6 months of experience in rigging operations. Preferably 1 year of experience in steel erection or structural fabrication. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards is required. In-depth knowledge of rigging equipment and heavy machinery. Must be able to meet all physical requirements of the job. Must have all required tools. Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (up to or exceeding 200 feet). Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Available to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by project needs.
