Job Summary As a Rigging Technician, you’ll be responsible for rigging-related projects associated with the service yard. From tuning rigging, splicing lines, and servicing winches, your work will directly impact the performance and safety of every vessel at Hinckley. The ideal candidate has experience installing and repairing sailboat rigging and sail systems. Responsibilities Diagnostics: Conduct rig inspections, troubleshoot mast lights and wiring. Inspect and estimate repairs. Repairs: Service and repair both standing and running rigging, including splicing lines, servicing winches, and furling systems. Service sailboat steering systems and deck hardware. Installation: Step and unstep masts, assemble and disassemble spars, install booms, sails, and running rigging. Testing: Inspect all aspects of the boat from bow to stern, as well as tune standing rigging. Safety Compliance: Wear proper personal protective equipment as required for the task or work area. Report all accidents, injuries, spills, and near misses immediately. Other: Wax and clean spars. All duties as assigned. Requirements Experience: Previous experience in marine rigging (professional or strong recreational background) preferred. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and be comfortable hanging, moving, twisting, and climbing with loads. Certifications: Must hold a valid driver’s license. Pre-Employment: All applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment. Qualifications Experience with splicing tools and techniques. Knowledge of winches and furling systems, both manual and electrical/hydraulic. Overall understanding of sailboats and nomenclature. Passion for sailing and willingness to learn.
