QUALIFICATIONS:

Three year Community College Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma.

EXPERIENCE:

Two years of related experience. Eligible to become an Associate Member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS ARE NECESSARY:

  • Valid Class “G” Drivers License.
  • Working knowledge of civil engineering technology, construction inspection, City Standards, and practices.
  • Ministry of the Environment Certificate in Sewer and Watermain Construction Inspection, Sewer Design and Watermain Design is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects.
  • Confined Space Entry Certificate and be able to use the required safety equipment is an asset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and various software.
Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Zoning and Public Property Compliance, or the Manager, Municipal Compliance, the Right-of-Way Approvals and Compliance Coordinator is responsible for both field and office duties related to engineering, review, inspection, enforcement and record-management functions. Reviews, coordinates, issues and inspects all work approval permits for construction and occupancy on the City’s right of way. Investigates violations of Municipal By-Laws related to the Public Property Compliance service area. Ensures Municipal policies, procedures and standards are adhered to. Gathers information from other Divisions regarding projects, operations, and services and distributes information.
