About the role…..
We’re on the lookout for a creative and surf loving Apparel Designer – Lifestyle to join our crew at Rip Curl HQ in Torquay. In this role, you’ll help shape the look and feel of our lifestyle apparel—designing pieces that reflect the surf culture we live and breathe.
You’ll work closely with our Product Managers and Design team to bring global seasonal collections to life, from concept through to production. If you’re all about style, function, and creating gear that speaks to the surf vibe, this is your chance to leave your mark and help shape what the crew wears from beach to street.
What You’ll Be Doing

Design & Development

• Design lifestyle apparel ranges that align with seasonal briefs and brand direction.
• Research global trends and translate them into relevant, on-brand product.
• Create detailed tech packs, CADs, and specifications for development and production.
• Collaborate with Product Development to ensure fit, fabric, and finish meet expectations.
• Contribute to the evolution of key lifestyle categories across men’s and women’s ranges.

Creative Direction

• Stay ahead of surf, street, and youth fashion trends to keep our collections fresh and relevant.
• Ensure consistency in creative direction across all lifestyle apparel.
• Work closely with the graphics team to develop artworks, prints, and trims that elevate the range.

Collaboration & Communication

• Partner with Product Managers, Developers, and the wider design team to bring collections to life.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and ensure clear communication throughout the development process.
• Participate in fittings, approvals, and range reviews to ensure product excellence.

What You’ll Bring

• A strong eye for design and a passion for surf and lifestyle fashion.
• Experience in apparel design, ideally within youth or action sports markets.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Solid understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and fit.
• Great communication and time management skills.
• A collaborative mindset and a genuine connection to the Rip Curl brand and values.
